O2 and H2 Detection for Hydrogen Economy

In our final application highlight, we are going to be looking at new and mysterious industry of the Hydrogen economy.

Why do you need O2 and H2 detection in the Hydrogen economy?

The Hydrogen economy is being developed worldwide as a green energy substitution as we move towards net zero. As Hydrogen technologies are being explored and discovered, we are understanding more and more hazards that come along with these processes. One new technology is Hydrogen Electrolysis. Hydrogen electrolysis is a clean process, creating what is known as Green Hydrogen by pulsing an electrical current through a body of water (H2O). This splits the Hydrogen atom from the Oxygen allowing it to be used for energy purposes such as for fuel cells and transportation. Fuel cells similarly involve the presence of both Oxygen and Hydrogen gases, as fuel cells combine both Oxygen and Hydrogen gases to create electricity and heat, with byproducts being water and warm air.

For both of these applications, both Hydrogen and Oxygen gas will be stored or emitted on site. Hydrogen is highly explosive and is one of the smallest molecules on earth, making it prone to leaking. Oxygen leaks can create an Oxygen enriched atmosphere, which in turn causes health issues with workers and can make flammable gases even more explosive. Therefore, the combined leaking of Oxygen and Hydrogen can create an extremely explosive atmosphere, making it vital that workers employ both O2 and H2 detection to help reduce the risk to health.

Why use the Duo Tracer for O2 and H2 detection?

The Duo Tracer provides simultaneous detection for both O2 and H2 in one unit. This reduces the need for more than one portable gas detector per worker, reducing costs and making your workday more comfortable.

The Duo Tracer is durable, lightweight and easy to use with its one-button operation. This reduces the need for lengthy training allowing you and your team to get back to your work quickly.

With a visual, vibration and audible alarm, the Duo Tracer rapidly responds to dangerous gases in your workplace.
